Rules & Regulations

As you become a member of the Oneonta Boys and Girls Club, this building becomes yours to protect and preserve.  Your membership is a privilege which carries with it certain responsibilities.  When you sign our membership application, you agree to take care of the Club.  We may ask for your help picking up trash, raking the yard, or cleaning up the building.  If you see anyone else abusing the building or the property in any way, it is your responsibility to tell a staff member immediately.  Money saved in cleaning and repairs is used for trips for our members.  You will be rewarded for your efforts in looking after your Club.

We want you to enjoy the time you spend here at the club.  Our rules are few, but they are strictly enforced for the benefit of all.

1.  Satisfactory behavior is required to assure continued membership.  It    is not acceptable to intentionally harm another person; damage, or deface the building or our equipment.

2.  Fighting, foul language, smoking, chewing tobacco, or the possession or use of alcohol or drugs are all prohibited.

3.  Running is allowed only on the gym floor.

4.  Gym attire:  Boys and Girls engaging in activities on the gym floor must wear clean sneakers, tee shirt, and shorts or sweat pants.

5.  Lockers:  Each time you come to the club, select an empty locker to use for the day.  Bring a lock and keep your belongings locked in the locker.  When you leave each day, take everything with you including your lock.  The Oneonta Boys and Girls Club is not responsible for lost or stolen personal items or clothing.  When necessary, valuble items can be left in the office.

6.  Membership Card:  You need your card to sign out equipment.

7.  Boys and girls are not allowed to come and go from the club unless their parents tell us otherwise.  If your parents know you are at the Club then you must stay at the Club until it is time for you to leave.

8. Any food or beverage must be consumed at one of the snack bars.  If you bring your lunch, have a staff member put it in the refrigerator for you.  Do not leave food in the lockers.

9  Gum chewing is prohibited anywhere in the Club.  Please help us keep our floors gum free by depositing your chewing gum in a trash receptacle upon entry.

10.  Members who are sick should not come to the Club.  If you do not attend school because of an illness stay home, or have your parents make other arrangements for you.

If you find that you have a problem, please let us know.  Keep the lines of communication open!  Responsibility means following through on whatever you have agreed to do.  If you signed up to play on a team, your teammates are counting on you.  If you get sick or your plans change, give us a call.

When you sign up to take a trip, a place has been reserved for you.  If you find that you will not be able to join us after all, please call so that another child may take your place.

And finally, if you notice any dangerous situations in the building or on the grounds, please notify a staff member so that we can handle the problem immediately.  We make every effort to keep all of our members and guests safe.
