Pickett's Basketball League- Boys, Girls, Ages 9-12

This league began in 1973 with six teams.  It now has fourteen teams and is still expanding.  This program provides separate gyms for boys and girls ages 9-10, and 11-12, who do not play on any modified school teams.  The season starts in November and ends in late March.  Each team plays once a week, on Tuesday (for 9 and 10 year olds) or Wednesday (for 11 and 12 year olds), at either 6:15 or 7:15 p.m.

During the regular season the league is an instructional, recreational, non-competitive program, and player participation will be emphasized.  No official scores or standings will be kept.  Because of this non-competitive format, game officials will call fouls and rule infractions according to each player's ability.  Once the tournament begins in March, all games are fully competitive.  Each team works to advance to the championship round of the single elimination tournament.

There is no league draft.  Players can pre-register in the fall or sign up during the season, but team space is limited.  The league also offers a players clinic to kick off the seson, and a pizza party for all teams to celebrate the end of the season.

Mini Hoopsters Basketball Program- Coed, Ages 7-10

This is an introductory basketball class that teaches the basic rules and fundamentals of the game.  Indiviual skills such as shooting, passing, and dribbling are practiced.  Because of the size and age of the children, smaller balls and lower baskets are used.  This ensures that proper techniques are practiced while participants develop their skills.

This is the first step of the Club's basketball program.  Many players from Oneonta High School, past and present, began playing basketball as a Mini Hoopster.

Senior Boys and Girls Basketball League- Sr. Boys, Sr. Girls

Our Senior Basketball Leagues are highly structured, competitive programs available to members who meet the following criteria:  1. You must be a member in good standing between the ages of 13 and 18.  2.  You must be a full time student with high school athletic eligibility remaining.  3. You must not currently play on any J.V. or Varstiy basketball roster.

Separate teams are formed for senior boys and senior girls, but the same rules apply to both programs.  There are no tryouts, and no one will be cut from a team.  Any member who signs up to play will be assigned to a team.  Games will be played on Saturdays, and schedules will be available at the beginning of the season.

Junior Traveling Basketball- Boys, Girls, Ages 11&12

These are structured, competitive teams that play all over the upstate region.  Tryouts are held in the fall, and the season runs through the winter.  Players practice several times per week, and games are usually scheduled Friday nights and Saturdays.  In the past, we have played against teams from Albany, Walton, Norwich, Sidney, Harpursville, Vestal, Binghamton, and many more.  Although these teams are competitive, coaches will emphasize team play, basketball skills and strategies, sportsmanship, and player participation.

Intramural Slam Dunk Basketball League- Jr. Boys, Sr. Boys

This non-competitive league is a members favorite!  Games are played four on four in our Red Gym, with the baskets lowered (seven feet for juniors, eight feet for seniors) to allow for high scoring, fast paced games.  Players get the opportunity to Slam Dunk and imitate their favorite NBA stars!

Intramural Senior Playground Basketball League- Sr. Boys

This program mixes free wheelin', fast break basketball with player participation, sportsmanship, teamwork, and leadership.  Games are officiated by other players in the league who are not playing at that time.
